How would you describe where you are in your spiritual pilgrimage?
I am in a very interesting place in my spiritual pilgrimage. Over the last few years I have begun to step into the calling that God has placed on my life. There were many years of serving the Lord, but not stepping into what He had for me. Today, I’m in a place of transition. In between a place of serving as a response of His love for me, and into a place of authority and purpose through His anointing and calling.
How does the idea of attending to the presence and work of God in your life with a spiritual director attract or repel you?
Working with a “spiritual director” doesn’t interest me, but walking through life with the group of men I have in our men’s group does. We have a group of gentlemen that seeks hard after the Lord and loves Him wholeheartedly. Having a handful of men that are available to attend to God and encourage each other is life changing.
Where have you been aware of God’s voice, movement or initiative in your life during the past six months or year?
God speaks to me. We, the men’s group of our church, go through an exercise often where we will sit a listen for the word of God for each other. The expectation that He will speak to us is evident. This practice, or exercise, helps us to know that God wants to and does speak to us when we listen. I am encouraged that He speaks to me and allows me to see Him move in and through others at our church and in me.
Are you growing in recognizing and naming your blind spots? Explain.
Yes, I am growing in recognizing and naming some of my blind spots. I am aware of my difficulty in removing myself from activities in order to get tasks complete. I don’t have a lot of time to spend with my family, and when the time comes to get up and either do my homework or church work, I have a very difficult time in walking away to get those things done.
How do you keep your finger on the pulse of what God is doing in your soul?
There are a few different ways that I am able to keep my finger on the pulse of what God is doing in me. I have been in the practice of self-reflection for a few years and am improving my ability to judge my reactions and responses. I have been in a habit of asking myself questions throughout the day regarding my actions. I ask Him what He is doing and how I’m responding.
